Hi all , I'm asking for a favor here.

This question is for , Is anyone here is a iPhone developer or a objective-C Mac OS X application developer ?

I want to learn iPhone developing, However I can't buy a mac mini hardware. It's cost around 80,000/-
LKR. So I forgot the idea of buying it.

I have a intel x64 computer 2.666 Mhz but its just single core. I have already make a hackingtosh
on it. ( brought a Apple lablel from a colombo electronic shop for 175/- , according to the EULA it's now leagal) but the problem is the performance.

How can I archieve more performance ? or is there are any other idea ?
It takes about 5 minitues to boot the OS X. Sometimes it gives kernel panics. I get tired of this thing.

Try with dual core.Anyway you can't get the best performance, most of the times OS X relies upon original hardware components.

do you have the hackingtosh experience with co 2 do or duel core ? Please share the experience little bit
more.

How many times it gets to boot the operating system completely. Are you using a EFI version of x86_64 bios system ? I heard that there are bios level traps to detect the original apple hardware , isn't it ?

and mostely I thinks how it obtained is using a static compiler optmization techinique when they compile the
kernel. I think they targert the dule core processors. that comes with the mac mini. Then normally duel core
works little bit good.Am my guess is correct ?

However any other ideas how to optmize it. So you also learning the Objective-C just using a dual core processor ? or do you have a original mac mini ?

Dual core + emulator environment like PearPC (it's an architecture-independent PowerPC platform emulator capable of running most PowerPC operating systems) will give you some kind of good performance. I have tried it on one of my friends pc. Here's a good article about that topic
http://oreilly.com/windows/archive/PearPC.html. But again i'm not sure whether it gives the best performance. If you really want to develop Mac OS X applications with best performance try Objective-C on linux or windows(http://blog.lyxite.com/2008/01/compile-objective-c-programs-using-g...). and use your hackingtosh to test those applications.and for iPhone app development I think best way is to use an IDE (http://www.aptana.com/iphone/) Aptana is a good solution it's a plugin for Eclipse. Then again you can start your development through any platform there's no restriction or rules, give it a try.

Hi all,

First of all,
if you want to learn to iphone development my recommendation is you must use a mac.because the apple iphone SDK needs Mac OS X Leopard( new OS) and Xcode new version . Also now apple released a new sdk and new iphone OSX.(today release 3.1

Note:
1) you can't test your application using your iphone device before join iPhone Developer Program(u can use Simulator)
2) if u want to development to apple store you must follow apple standard. Also need to pass 4 step.(certification, profile, ....etc )

actually I can tell lot of thing regarding iphone development.
Because,

I am an iphone developer in apple development server. So if you want to any help i can help you.

Regards,
Saman

You can't use jailbreak Os for test these iphone applications(the applications that you created). You need original iphone OS.

you can ....
1)using original unlock iphone
2)locked phone and some satellite sim(like O2)

but need register for "iPhone Developer Program"

because u can't create binary file before register ......

Also Today release iPhone OS 3.1 beta 3 and relevant OS..
